Straight-line distance from where you first pet Derpiku. It changes nothing but the walk — same spirits, same haiku. Applies from your next walk.
Derpiku reads your position when you pet it, and — only while the app is open — to show how far you’ve walked, the radar and which spirit is floating above you. The radar may also use the phone’s compass to show which way you’re facing. Nothing leaves your device, there is no server, and your route is never saved. The walk’s starting point is deleted after the haiku (or after 3 hours).
Twenty-six spirits circle the Earth, one for every letter. Everyone sees the same spirits at the same time. Pet Derpiku, walk away, and pet it again once you’re far enough — it tells you a haiku from the spirit floating above you. Haiku aren’t saved anywhere — copy one if you’d like to keep it.
Version
Rub Derpiku with your finger. It tells you how far to walk. Walk away, rub it again — once you’re far enough, it tells you a haiku from the spirit floating above you.
Derpiku uses your location only to check how far you’ve walked and which spirit is above you. Nothing leaves your phone.
